Ethics and confidentiality

As a full member of the Swedish Association of Professional Translators (SFOE), I share the Association’s Code of Professional Conduct (available in Swedish on http://www.sfoe.se/sidor/yrkesetisk-kod.aspx). SFOE’s Code of Professional Conduct includes standards for professional behavior, which all SFOE members are to adopt in their work. In short, this Code stipulates that the translator should work with care, professionalism and confidentiality. When becoming a member of SFOE, all members undertake to follow this Code of Professional Conduct.

Standard for translation services

A European standard for translation services, EN 15038:2006, the European Quality Standard for Translation Services was introduced in 2006. Its principal target group is translation agencies, but it also contains a great deal of information that may be useful for buyers and sellers of translations to be aware of.

In brief, the standard specifies the requirements to be met by suppliers of translation services with regard to human and technical resources, quality and project management, the contractual frameworks and service procedures.
